Story
You need this power to protect the ones you love, but in order to obtain the power, you need to put your most important thing at risk...There are a lot of people who thinks that their lives are the most important thing, and are willing to sacrifice it for power. However, the girls who agreed to obtain this power realized that they had all made a mistake. They gained the power to protect the ones they love, at the price of putting the lives of their loved ones at risk.
Mai Tokira and her younger brother transferred to a new school under scholarships. When they thought everything was normal and ordinary, Mai gained this power while her friends were in danger. Her "child", Kagutsuchi, was a fire affinated beast-looking robotic creature which had strong powers. She also discovered that there are more girls like her with a "child" and special powers, known as "HiME". The HiMEs are destined to fight each other until one of them remained, and the last one would gain a reward of having one dream fulfilled. However, when one lost, her "child" would die, so as her loved ones. It was the fate of these girls to be enemies, if not, they would lose the most important thing in their lives...
Characters
Mai Tokiha: An ordinary girl who transferred to a new school obtained some unordinary powers and became a HiME. At first, she saw Tate as a pervert, but as time pass by, she began to develop her feelings for him. Her child, Kagutsuchi, was the most powerful among all the HiMEs. Mai transfomed her powers into fiery rings around her arms and legs.
Natsuki Kuga: A cool girl who liked to move on her own. She had her own source for information about some secret association who planned the road of HiMEs. Her child was Duran, a robotic dog which shoots out missles. She also had her powers transformed into two silver guns. 
Mikoto Minagi: A little girl whom Mai first met in school. She had a big appetite for food and was always running around the campus swiftly like a cat. She was always carrying a sword which she used to strengthen her powers. She also had a purple npendant given by her brother. Her goal was to search for her brother. 
Shizuru Fujino: The students' council president who was always carefree. She showed a cheerful face, but she was tactful and mysterious. Her child was Kiyohime, a very powerful one which could easily finish off its enemy. Shizuru actually liked Natuski, but she never confessed her feeling until the end. 
Midori Sugiura: One of the academy instructors and Mai's co-worker. Her child is a chariot-like creature with a sharp tip front and used wind for attacks. She became quite friendly with Mai. 
Nao Yuuki: One of the girls who did not reveal much of her own life at first. She tricked guys for their money using her child, a spider thing and her powers in the form of claws. She actually had a sick mother and was in need of money for curing her. 
Shiho Munakata: A girl who liked Tate and saw Mai as her rival. She was selfish and quite childish. She didn't care about other people when it comes to something about her and Tate. 
Akira Okuzaki: A girl who crossdressed as a guy and shared a room with Mai's younger brother. She always put on a cold look and forbids anyone to go near her bed. Mai's brother found out that she was a girl one time, and she later developed feelings for him. 
Yukariko Sanada: One of the teaches in the academy as well as the sister in the academy church. She was under the control of one of the male teachers and fought because she wanted to make him happy. Her child was a white/silverish unicorn and her powers transform into a large silver bow. 
Akane Higurashi: One of the shy and quiet girls. Her child, Harry, is a tiger like robotic creature. She had a crush on a guy whom she called Kazu-kun. However, her child was destroyed by Miyu and Akane went into a blank state after that. 
Yukino Kikukawa: Haruka's helper in the students' council who was responsible for keeping records for the council files. She was always on Haruka's side because Haruka had helped her in the past. Her child, Diana, was a giant monitoring system, but didn't really have any useful attacks. 
Yuuichi Tate: The guy whom Mai first met on the way to her new school. After that he had always been around her. Tate later realized his feeling for Mai, but Mai started to avoid him because of her HiME powers. Tate did not understand when Mai said goodbye to him. 
Haruka Suzushiro: The students' council reporter who did not like Shizuru being so carefree. She aimed to find Shizuru's weakness and overthrow the president. She was always acting on her own and cause trouble for Yukino.
Alyssa Sears: SHe was a fake HiME, who was created to fight with the real HiMEs. Her child was a big Satellite located in space and had a very accurate shooting system. She did not have any feeling for anyone, because she was made to do so.
Fumi Himeno: Mashiro's helper inside the academy. She is actually one of the HiMEs, but she did not reveal herself until the end. 
Mashiro Kazahana: The daughter of the owner of the academy. Due to some difficulty in walking, she was always on a wheelchair. 
Reito Kanzaki: The vice-president of the students' council. He was as carefree as the president herself. He seemed to like Mai and approached her many times. However he was actually the Dark Lord, and he wanted Mai to be with him forever after she won as the last standing HiME. 
Nagi Homura: Some mysterious guy who told the HiMEs about their destiny to fight each other. What his intention was was unknown. He had a pissing face and always wear a smirk on his face. 
Glear Miyu: A robotic girl, also a production of the Sears family. Her mission was to help Alyssa test the other HiMEs and destroy their "child"s. When Alyssa was defeated, Miyu sank her into a pond and disappeared. Gallery
