Story
Takumi Fujiwara is the son of the owner of a local tofu shop. At night, Fujiwara gets in his souped up AE86 Sprinter Trueno and races on the seldom-used Japanese mountain roads. One night, the Akagi Red Suns team, a racing club, challenges the Akina Speed Stars to a race on the mountain where Fujiwara lives. Keisuke, one of the leaders of the Red Suns, races his legendary Mazda — only to be beaten by the mysterious Fujiwara.Characters
Fujiwara Takumi: Takumi Fujiwara is an 18 year old guy living in the town adjacent to Mt.Akina, in the Gunma Prefecture of Japan. He goes to the local high school, has a part time job working at a gas station, and looks like any normal young guy. His expressionless face rarely shows any emotion, if at all. That all changes when he gets behind the wheel of his father's car, a Toyota Trueno AE86(the Corolla in the US). Having mastered driving techniques most racers would kill for, Takumi also has a side job delivering tofu to a hotel at Mt.Akina's peak. Through this "job", Takumi's driving instincts have been honed to the highest caliber. A chance encounter with the redsuns' Keisuke Takahashi plunges Takumi into the world of underground mountain road racing. A racing spirit slowly begins to awaken within him, along with a strong desire to explore his world beyond his city. Only time will tell how far Takumi will go.
Fujiwara Bunta: Takumi's father, Bunta, was the fastest driver in there town even his trueno was in fame because of him and he handed his trueno to Takumi. Iketani Kouichirou,Drives Nissan Silvia S13 and helps Takumi with mechanic stuff, like helping Takumi install his Tachometer. Kenji, Despite not being a really great driver, Kenji is one good friend of Takumi, Itsuki and Iketani. He also happens to know a lot about other street racers and their whereabouts, perhaps some sort of snitch, in a good way, that is. Kenji is a member of the Akina SpeedStars, drives a 180sx. Good friends with Itsuki, Takumi, and Iketani.
Mako: Mako is the fastest in Mt. Usui. Her partner is Sayuki, they call themselves Impact Blue.
Mogi Natsuki: Takumi's best girlfriend. She is attracted to Takumi but Takumi did'nt even realized it and Takumi got angry when he saw her with a man inside the BENZ.
Nakamura Kenta: A conceited trainee of Keisuke who boldly challenges Takumi in Myogi wet but losing so badly. Though he may have admired Takumi's greatness in the end, there is still some sort of arrogance in him such that he gives himself credit in Ryosuke's heroics in beating Kyoichi, where in fact he was useless.
Nakazato Takashi: Team leader of NightKids. Drives a Nissan Skyline R32 GTR. In Second Stage, he lost to Seiji Iwaki of the Emperors/LanEvo.
Sayuki: Mako's best friend and navigator. Also have a crush on Takumi.
Takahashi Keisuke: 21 years old, and is the second best racer in the Red Suns. Unlike his brother Ryosuke, who utilzes computers and logic to improve his driving, Keisuke drives primarily on instinct. Though he is the first person to lose in Initial D, he shows a great deal of improvement after being trained by his brother, and wishes to become a professional racer. While he continues to seek revenge on Takumi for defeating him, he seeks a friendship with the Eight-Six driver and has developed a great respect for him. Keisuke is also going to be a prominent racer in the Kengai Team, which will travel throughout Japan, breaking prefecture course records. Keisuke drives a Mazda RX-7 like his brother, only his is the 3rd generation, the FD3S Twin Turbo.
Takahashi Ryousuke: is arguably the best racer in Initial D. He utilizes his computer to analyze course maps to find attack points, opponent's weaknesses, entry and exit speeds from corners. He drives one of the oldest cars in Initial D, the Mazda RX-7, FC3S, and is the leader of the Akagi Red Suns. He's 23 years old, currently pursuing medical school and plans to retire from racing after his Kengai Team breaks every course record in their prefecutre.
Takeuchi Itsuki: Takumi's bestfriend that also loves driving a trueno and he forces Takumi to go street race.Gallery
