Story
Gundam Wing begins in the era of A.C. (After Colony - after the creation of space colonies inhabited by humans). War is continuous on Earth, while the space colonies live in relative peace. The wars on earth finally ended in or about 175 A.C. At this point, the Earth government established the "Earth Sphere Unified Alliance". This organization was to promote peace on Earth and throughout the space colonies. Unknown to the general public, the Alliance was only a puppet for the industrialist group, The Rome Eller Foundation.In the name of peace, the Alliance's Army, known as "OZ", seized control of all space colonies and crushed all opposition parties with mech-like fighting machines known as Mobile Suits (MS). After two decades of oppression, a group of rebels amongst the space colonies decided to show that they will not tolerate the iron grip of the Earth Alliance any further. With the help of the 5 scientists who first developed the MS, the rebels created five super fighting MS machines, known as Gundams. However, no ordinary pilots can control these machines due to their advanced technology. Therefore, 5 children, namely Heero Yuy, Duo Maxwell, Trowa Barton, Quatre Raberba Winner and Chang Wufei, were adopted and trained from a very young age with each having very distinct personalities and their mission was to destroy the Earth Alliance.
Characters
Heero Yuy: A mysterious youth sent from L1 space colony cluster to fight against OZ, alias Heero Yuy, after the martyred, peace-seeking leader of the space colonies; real name unknown. Heero has been trained since childhood for his role as pilot of the Wing Gundam, an upbringing that has made him cold and ruthless. Heero is a perfect soldier equally skilled in personal combat, explosives, and computer hacking. He has a love/hate relationship with Relena Peacecraft.
u> Duo Maxwell: A fun-loving guy, a member of the scavenger organization known as the Sweeper Group, which sent him to Earth to battle OZ. Despite the hardships he's suffered in his young life, and the seriousness of his mission, Duo is always cheerful and good-natured. But when he goes into battle as pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe, striking from the shadows with its lethal beam scythe, he truly earns his nickname “ The God of Death."
Trowa Barton: A mysterious young man who calls himself Trowa, pilot of the Gundam Heavyarms. This cool and quiet guy has nerves of steel and superb reflexes, qualities which serve him well in his cover identity as an acrobatic clown in a traveling circus troupe. He also has soldiering experience far beyond his years. When combined with his heavily-armed Gundam, Trowa's tactical skill and combat ability make him a veritable one-man army. 
Quatre Raberba Winner: A young aristocrat, the thirtieth child and only son of a wealthy family of space colony developers. He is tender-hearted and gentle but brave and determined, and has defied his family's wishes in order to join the battle against OZ. Quatre is also the unofficial leader of the Gundam pilots in that the only one that is able to unify them in combat. Quatre is aided by a troop of forty loyal underlings, the Maganac Fighters, and can draw on the Winner family's vast resources, assets which more than make up for his relative lack of fighting skill. He pilots the Gundam Sandrock. 
Chang Wufei: Descendant of a legendary Chinese warrior clan, one of the more powerful of the Gundam pilots and lives very proudly by a strict code of honor. Chang thinks that justice is that which is done by the stronger of two people and so also thinks that the weak should not fight. He dislikes fighting alongside other people. Indeed, the only ally he trusts is his Shenlong Gundam, which he has nicknamed "Nataku" after a hero in Chinese mythology. 
Relena Peacecraft: The adoptive daughter of Prime Minister Darlian. Her biological parents were the Peacecrafts dedicated to pacifism. itement. She meets Gundam pilot Herro Yuy in her school. In the beginning of the story, Relena learns about her real parents, she commits her life to end the war and promote peace through the Earth sphere and the space colonies. She then becomes a leading advocate for peace and nonviolence in an increasingly chaotic world. 
Zechs Merquise: OZ's top mobile suit pilot. Zechs has accumulated numerous distinctions during his career in the Specials. He earned the highest marks in the history of the Lake Victoria military academy, receiving the first two-rank promotion in the history of the Specials, and acquired the nickname "Lightning Baron" for his exploits. His real name is Milliardo Peacecraft, Relena’s elder brother. 
Treize Khushrenada: Charming, charismatic leader of OZ and of the Specials, the elite Earth Alliance taskforce which serves as Oz's disguise. A pure aristocrat who lives by a code of chivalry and conducts himself as a gentleman even while plotting cruel treachery and bloody revolution. He is admired by OZ's soldiers; feared by his Alliance superiors; and a close, trusted friend to the ace pilot Zechs Merquise. 
Sally Po: A former member of the Federation. She leaves the organization after witnessing the cruel treatment Heero receives at the hands of its officials. In her homeland, she discovers that her country is on the brink of a revolution of sorts. Joining the rebel forces, Sally leads numerous missions to help the cause. It is on one of these missions that Sally encounters new friend and ally Chang Wufei. 
Lucrezia Noin: a good friend of Zechs from his days at the Lake Victoria Military Academy. She received the second highest honors in the Academy's history. After graduation, she joined the academy's staff, and now trains new Specials recruits in the art of space combat. She doesn't much care for fighting, and she often uses her influence with OZ's leader to try to resolve crisis situations peacefully. Noin is extremely dedicated to Zechs and stands at his side even when she should be fighting him instead. 
Quinze: Quinze was the original leader of White Fang before he gave the job to Zechs. He is a violent revolutionary who believes that the colonies should fight for their independence. Gallery
