Story
"You have a reason to live on, so I will give you this power. However, in return for this power, you will have to live a life of loneliness..."The Great Empire of Britannia declared war on Japan and won. Japan was then known as "Area 11", and the people "Area 11 Residents". The King of Britannia believed that weaklings were to be destroyed because they were not needed. "Area 11" was under the rule of the third Prince, Clovis, and the Japanese plotted against the Britannians occasionally, which were then killed or slaughtered.
Lelouch, an ordinary student in Ashford Academy was actually a Britannia prince. However, his hatred for his father, the King, his country and the royal family summoned his desire to destroy Britannia and to create a new world. Lelouch was given away with his younger sister when they were small, and they had no friends except for the son of the Japanese Prime Minister, Suzaku. In order to protect Suzaku, to create a peaceful world for his sister, as well as for all civilians, Lelouch obtained the power of "Geass", an ability which enabled him to control people's minds and started his revolution.
On the other hand, Suzaku joined the Britannia forces. He believed that the best method to improve the world was to start changing it from the inside. He was appointed pilot of a special mecha, Lancelot by the special research branch of the army, and became the only non-Britannian in the army to be able to pilot a mecha, known as Nightmare Frame. Lelouch, with the power of Geass, formed his own revolutionary organization, Kuro Kishi Tan (Black Knight Order). Although he was bright with his mind, he had never imagined that his opponent would be the person he least want to fight with...
Characters
Lelouch Lamperouge (Lelouch Vi Britannia/Lulu): A smart student who cared for nothing in the wolrd except the ones he loved, his sister, and his best friend. He hated his father for feeling nothing for his mother's death. He hated the Britannian Empire for slaughtering the Area 11 Residents. Under the name of Zero, he used his Geass to take revenge on the royal family. 
Suzaku Kururugi: Son of the previous Japanese Prime Minister. His father did not understand him so he killed him. However this memory has always haunted him. He tried to escape from reality by joining the Britannia forces, in hopes to contribute to the people. He was an excellent pilot as well as a trustworthy friend. 
C.C.: A mysterious girl whom Lelouch met and obtained the power of Geass. She had a sad past and an unknown real name. Aside from Lelouch, she had also granted other people the power of Geass. However, she chose to help Lelouch change the world. 
Kallen Stadtfeld (Karen Kouzuki): A weak and gentle girl in Ashford Academy, but actually a member fo the revolutionary forces against Britannia. She joined the Black Knight Order and became the best pilot in the group. She was one of the loyal subordinates who didn't mind not knowing Zero's true identity. 
Kyoushirou Toudou: A great Japanese leader, rumoured to be able to perform miracles with his Nightmare Frame. He was always sitting inside his hideout watching the moves of the revolutionary forces and Britannia. 
Kaname Ougi: A member of the revolutionary forces, later an important member of the Black Knight Order. He was second in command while Zero was not in charge. 
Diethard Ried: A Britannian who was depositioned and became an ordinary reporter. His wish was to follow the Black Knight Order carefully in search for stunning information about Zero, thus he became a member of the Order. 
Laksharta: A woman who was an expert in mechanics. SHe was able to obtain powerful mechas, equipments and the latest technology for the Order. 
Shinichirou Tamaki: A member of the revolutionary group, later member of the Order. He was always suspicious of Zero, and wanted to know his identity in order to fully trust him. 
Taizou Kirihara: A man from a welthy Japanese family. He agreed to help with the finance of the Order after he saw Zero's true identity. 
Kaguya Sumeragi: The only heir to the Japanese royal family who was under protection without the knowing of Britannia. She liked Zero and even told him she wanted to marry him. 
The Emperor of Britannia: Lelouch's father, as well as the king of Britannia. He did not shed a tear when Lelouch's mother died, and he thought weaklings like Lelouch and Nunnally were just obtacles to expanding him empire. 
Schneizel El Britannia: The second prince of Britannia. He had a unique way of dealing with people and things. However, although he always carried a smile on his face, he could be cruel when it comes to the matter of victory. 
Clovis La Britannia: The third prince of Britannia. He was cruel and incapable of the position. While the Britannia army was fighting for the country outside, Clovis was enjoying his parties. He was a man who would betray anyone for his own life. 
Cornelia Li Britannia: The second princess of Britannia. She was tactful and collected. She came to Area 11 after the death of her brother, Clovis. She swore to find Zero and killed him in revenge for her brother. 
Euphemia Li Britannia: The third princess of Britannia. Unlike the rest of the royal family, she had a kind heart and wanted to treat non-Britannians and Britannians equally. She appointed Suzaku as her knight after seeing how skillful he was in his fights. 
Jeremiah Gottwald: One of the Nightmare pilots in the Britannian army. He was impulsive, bad-tempered and longed for promotion in the army. During an incident when Suzaku was sentenced to death, he was controlled by Lelouch's Geass and let the criminal free. After that, the Britannian army's trust in him almost fell to zero. 
Villetta Nu: One of the Nightmare pilots in the Britannian army. She was the first person to arrive to the scene after Lelouch killed all the soldiers and gave her Nightmare away. She was always eager to look for the student whom she had seen before her mind blankage. She lost her memory in a fight and ended up in Kaname's care. 
Kewell Soresi: One of the Nightmare pilots in the Britannian army. He was bad-tempered as well and impulsive. He was killed when he lost his cool and was eager to capture the Black Knight Order at a mountain fight. 
Lloyd Asplund: The mecha maniac in the special research branch of the Britannia army. He was actually a duke despite his habit to joke. He was the one who found Suzaku's potential as a pilot and gave him Lancelot. 
Cecile Croomy: Lloyd's helper. She was gentle and was always the one to stop Lloyd when he behaved strangely. 
Andreas Darlton: The leader of the Britannian troop and one of Cornelia's bodyguards. Although he hated Area 11 Residents, he did not mind Suzaku joining them as long as there was a chance of victory. 
Gilbert G.P. Guilford: Cornelia's bodyguard. He was very loyal to the princess and his first piority was always to ensure that she was safe. 
Shirley Fenette: A student in Ashford Academy and a member fo the Students' Council & Swimming club. She liked Lelouch, but got her memory erased after Lelouch used Geass on her. 
Rivalz Cardemonde: Lelouch's school friend, classmate and Students' Council member. He drove Lelouch to school and to gambles with his automobile. He likes the council president. 
Milly Ashford: The Student's Council president, one of the few people who knew that Lelouch was a Britannian prince. Later she became engaged to Lloyd. 
Nunnally Lamperouge: Lelouch's younger sister who had always been with him since they were born. She became blind during the assassination of their mother and went to Area 11 with her brother. She was sweet and gentle. 
Nina Einstein: A Students' Council member who was also a mecha freak. She was saved by Euphemia during a kidnapping incident and wanted to meet the princess somehow. 
Sayoko Shinozaki: The maid who took care of Nunnally and the cleaning fo the Students' Council room, as well as cooking. 
Mao: The other person whom C.C. gave Geass to. he had the ability to listen to other people's thoughts, except C.C.'s. He mind had always stayed a child's. To him, C.C. was th only person whose mind he could not read and he considered her as a "real" person. 
Shiseiken: Four strong pilots under Toudou. They joined forces with Zero after Toudou was captured. Gallery
